Simba Shines at National K9 Trials
Simba, the renowned K9 from the Monroe Police Department, recently excelled in the USPCA Region 7 PD-1 Certification Trials held on June 10th. Competing against 21 other K9s from New York and Connecticut at the Ulster County K9 facility in Stormville, Simba showcased impressive skills, earning five awards throughout the event. Simba and his handler, Officer Gayler, secured 2nd place in both overall competition and agility, along with 3rd place in criminal apprehension, obedience, and scent detection. Their outstanding performance has qualified them for the National Patrol Dog PDI Field Trials and Certification scheduled for August in Foley, Alabama. Notably, Simba represents the only police K-9 pit bull in New York, alongside Kiah, another K9 from the Hudson Valley, who is also breaking stereotypes while serving in law enforcement.
